Actus Reus formed in the late 2010s while the members were at the end of their teenage years. The goal from the beginning was to bring energy, melody, and groove into the metal community. The band released their debut EP ‘Vengeance’ in 2019 and kicked the door open of the Atlanta metal scene as a result. The metalcore quintet went on to release their biggest song yet in 2020 ‘Cultist’ featuring Atlanta king Taylor Barber of Left to Suffer. In 2021, Actus Reus competitively worked their way onto a side stage at the country’s largest rock festival, Welcome To Rockville. Playing a set late on Saturday night, they amassed about 2,000 attendees and really impressed festival organizers. To follow this momentum, Actus Reus went and crafted their first LP: ‘Mens Rea’. The band’s self-titled song quickly became a crowd favorite as they worked their way to the top of lineups in the Atlanta scene. They were supporting or headlining 6 sold out shows in a row in Atlanta between 2023 and 2024. Following a sold out performance in the infamous Atlanta venue Hell at The Masquerade as direct support for Silly Goose, the boys went in the studio to craft their most jaw-dropping project yet. The EP ‘NUMERICA’ features 4 songs and an interlude. Two songs (THIRD D3GREE and LOW CLAS5) have already been released as singles and have combined for over 25,000 organic streams in under 2 months. They will be releasing a third single ‘MERC1LESS’ on October 11th, followed by the full EP on November 1st. In 2025, Actus Reus plans to hit the road for as many shows as possible as well as get back in the studio to record a follow up to the successful EP.
